Vera Xia
b. 1999, Hunan, China. Lives and works in Beijing and Boston.
Xia’s practice explores photography’s entanglement with history, memory, myth, and the unseen. Working across digital, analog, and alternative photographic processes, she blurs the real and the fabricated. For her, looking is a ritual of heightened attention, and image making is conjuring.
She is the recipient of the Kunpeng Award at the 2021 PIP Pingyao International Photography Festival, and was shortlisted for the Royal Photographic Society’s 167th International Photography Exhibition (RPS IPE 167). Her film Where You Look was a finalist for Best Documentary at ARFF Amsterdam 2024, and her follow-up film Town Nexus is a finalist for the Globe Award at ARFF Amsterdam 2025.

夏靖宜的创作探讨摄影与历史、记忆、神话及不可见之物之间的纠缠。她游走于数码、胶片与古典摄影工艺之间,模糊真实与虚构的边界。对她而言,观看是一种高度专注的仪式,而影像创作即是召唤。
她曾获 2021 年平遥国际摄影大展(PIP)鲲鹏奖,并入围英国皇家摄影学会第 167 届国际摄影展(RPS IPE 167)。其电影《Where You Look》入围 2024 年阿姆斯特丹 ARFF 国际电影节最佳纪录片奖,后续作品《Town Nexus》入围 2025 年阿姆斯特丹 ARFF 国际电影节环球奖(Globe Award)。
